Chamber Music Beginnings
Through entertaining concerts and teaching sessions, students learn music fundamentals (melody, rhythm, form, artistry, and expression) first-hand from our world-class musicians and teaching artists. Students discover the intimacy of chamber music and the values of cooperation, teamwork, and personal responsibility that are essential to a successful performance. All programs are aligned with the NYC DOE Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in Music.
This season host Jerome Brooks, co-host Ana Cantorán Viramontes, and musicians of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center explore what makes a “perfect” chamber music concert through melody and rhythm.
Accompanying teaching sessions are led by teaching artists of the Vision Collective, Youth Orchestra of Urban Towns and Hoods, and Ivalas Quartet (Graduate Resident String Quartet of The Juilliard School).
Each unit includes:
• Admission to live performances by our world-class musicians
• In-class activities and instruction led by experienced teaching artists prior to each concert
• Access to teaching materials, recordings of the works to be heard in concert, and guided listening activities
All programs are offered free of charge with available quota. Teaching materials are available in English and Spanish.
